What will I study?

Run in collaboration with Studio 79, this one-year course combines practical and theoretical assignments and is heavily performance based. You will be required to work in groups as well as individually on various assignments and actively provide creative input along the rehearsal process to produce exciting and dynamic new work for your projects.

Learners will gain an overview of the dance industry, as well as obtaining practical skills essential to understanding performance, technical training, rehearsal and group work. They will also develop key skills in IT, Communication, The Performing Arts Business and obtain an understanding of Health & Fitness.

We offer regular timetabled performances including The Christmas Musical, Mass Movement, Move it!, and the college ends the academic year with a performance at Leicester’s prestigious Haymarket Theatre. When college productions are scheduled, there will be extra rehearsal sessions added to the timetable, which you will be expected to attend.

How will I study?

You will be taught through a variety of methods including practical demonstrations, lectures and your own research. Learners will have opportunity to complete exam work in ISTD Ballet and Tap. Alongside the regular timetabled activities, there are numerous opportunities throughout the college year, we encourage learners to get involved with outside activities to further their understanding of the performing arts industry and gain performance experience in the relevant fields.

How is the course examined?

You will be continually assessed during your course through a series of practical performance and work-related assignments.
