Entry Qualifications
In addition to the standard College entry requirements (see below) this course requires students to have achieved grade 4 or above in GCSE Mathematics.
What will I study?
The core units are:
• The Business Environment
• Business Decisions
• Customers and Communications
• Working in Business
How will I study?
This course focuses on the vocational aspects of Business so you will find a lot of teaching is based on case studies, application to a variety of different businesses, visiting speakers, role plays, and visits to industry. Students will need to keep up to date with the use of specialist journals and by reading quality broadsheet newspapers.
How is the course examined?
Students will be assessed by a mixture of:
Assignments – set and marked internally
Written exams – set and marked by the exam board
Where next?
Level 3 courses earn you UCAS points and are therefore valued by universities allowing you to take on HND/ HNC, foundation degree course or honors degree. Students can go in to a wide range of employment including retail, finance, HR and marketing.
What does the course combine well with?
The Extended Certificate goes well with another Extended Certificate of an A Level.
Equivalents
The Extended Certificate is equivalent to 1 A level.
College Entry Requirements
A minimum of five GCSEs, at Grades A* – C/4 – 9, including English Language, from a mixture of GCSEs and
Equivalents.
Students undertaking a Level 3 ‘hybrid’ program comprising at least one A Level element are required to meet the
Standard College A level entry criteria.
