I joined the Corporation as a Parent Governor in 2010 and have held several positions including Vice-Chair and Chair of several committees.  My term of office has now come to an end however to ensure we do not lose the knowledge and skills of the Board, I have agreed to become a Co-opted Member for a short period which allows me to continue to support and contribute to the College without the responsibilities of full Board membership. I would encourage everyone to consider finding out about Board opportunities, sharing your knowledge and gaining valuable development in the process.

As a parent I fully understand the concerns students and parents have when considering the College and during this important time in their life.  I believe WQE is an outstanding college with a positive and friendly atmosphere. Students are treated as adults and have responsibilities and support is available.   That’s why I chose it with my son and daughter. Both successfully went onto university. My son is now successfully employed in the NHS managing their IT systems, whilst my daughter completed her degree in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation this year despite the Covid pandemic disrupting her studies. She is now a Sports Therapist for several football teams (mens and womens’) and a FA Level 1 qualified football coach.

I have brought considerable experience to the Corporation having worked in both the private and public sector, engaging closely with community and voluntary groups with  an insight that means I can effectively challenge and support senior managers at the College.  I am a Civil Servant and have worked for several departments including the Department for Education , Department for Work and Pensions and Department of Health, working on the national Covid response.

My expertise lies in partnership engagement, equality and diversity and compliance.

I am passionate about lifelong learning, improving skills and offering the best opportunity to aspire.

I am a football fan and lifelong Leicester City football fan, holding season tickets to for both the mens and womens’ teams.
