As a Sixth Form College Principal since 2008 I have always sought to be an advocate for providing young people with opportunities and I am committed to creating the environment, support and sense of community that enable students to excel and progress. I believe passionately in the ambitious, supportive and mature learning communities that Sixth Form Colleges provide and in helping young people to be increasingly independent and prepared for adult life.
Prior to 2008 I held the post of Vice Principal at King Edward VI Sixth Form College and have also held other leadership posts in three different schools prior to that. My teaching career began in 1992 and has primarily been in the subjects of Economics, Business Studies, Mathematics and PE and I know the importance of encouraging and supporting teaching practitioners to continue their own learning and development, in order to create new and inspiring experiences for our students. I have completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), the Principals Executive Leadership Development Programme and had the privilege to attend Oxford University’s Said Business School on their programme Further Education Strategic Leaders.
I Chaired the partnership representing all of the Leicester based post 16 providers, Tertiary Federation Leicester, from 2013 to 2020 and I am a Governor of a local secondary school, as well as a trustee of the Learning Without Limits Academy Trust. I have also been Chair of the AOC East Midlands Sports Portfolio Group, as well as a national board member of AOC Sport. In my free time I enjoy active involvement in grassroots football, as a FA and UEFA Licenced coach and a qualified referee.
