I have been in education for the last 23 years. During that time, I worked in both schools in challenging circumstances and in the independent sector. I held several positions within senior leadership teams and helped move a school out of special measures, with the areas I was responsible for being rated as ‘Good’. I have completed post-graduate studies in educational leadership and expert teaching as well as obtaining my NPQH.
Recently I moved out of the ‘formal’ education system and took my transferable skills into the world of logistics and training. I am currently responsible for ensuring all operational training across a large logistics company is of the highest quality and fully compliant with legislation. I lead a team of four and we work across three operational areas, Driver Training, Health and Safety and Mechanical Handling Equipment. I determine the policy and procedures around compliance and quality of training and delivery.
I am also an officer in the Army Cadet Force. My current role is county-wide and involves oversight of the management and delivery of Cadet and Adult Vocational Qualifications. I also deliver familiarisation training to new and existing adult volunteers.
I believe education should be open and accessible to all and that educational establishments should work hard to enable all learners to achieve. In my role as Governor, I will be using my educational knowledge and understanding to support the College in achieving this.
