Governors & Co-opted

My name is Mariam Delair. I am studying English Language and Literature,  Economics and Psychology at A-level at WQE. I chose to attend WQE because of the accessibility of level 3 courses; including more unknown subjects such as combined English which I study, and additional reason being the flexibility  the college provides.

I enjoy the opportunities which WQE gives me, in particular the variety of roles which are excellent for super-curriculars. I enjoyed serving as a PREVENT Young Leader, aiding college-wide initiatives to prevent radicalisation, including introducing guest speakers for an informative discussion on the topic. Enrichment activities are abundant, with a variety of options such as recreational sports, to law for everyday life. More personally, I appreciated opportunities for debating – for  intellectual stimulation.

As a Student Governor, I am most interested in learning about the student experience, curriculum and outcomes focus of the Corporation and being able to comment from a student perspective on any possible policy implementations and implications.

My hopes for the future are to provide a valuable contribution to the direction of the College for both current and future students. I aim to be thoughtful of a wide range of perspectives to aid in decision making, giving due diligence to my role.
