I became a Governor of the College in 2011 and was Chair between early 2017 and July 2022. I was ‘timed out’ from being a Governor at the end of the 2022/23 academic year and was happy to accept the request to be a Co-opted Member of one of the Board Committees. Both of my daughters attended the College and my father was at Wyggeston in the 1940s.

As well as a life-long interest in education and learning, I have strong director experience in the public, private and third sectors. My executive career culminated in a role on the Executive Committee of a FTSE100 bank. I now spend my working time on non-executive director and voluntary roles, mostly supporting the local community and economy. I am a Governor of De Montfort University. I was Deputy Chair of the East Midlands Ambulance Service for 10 years until 2021 and was on the Audit Committee of the University of Leicester. I am a non-executive director of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce and of some small businesses. I am also Chair of the Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation, which supports charity and voluntary groups in the area. I am Secretary of Welland Valley Cycling Club and was for many years a board member of the Foxes Trust (the Supporters Trust for Leicester City Football Club) until 2024.

My career has included working for H M Treasury, the Inland Revenue, and a small management consultancy. I was Head of Strategic Planning and then Director of Corporate Communications at Alliance & Leicester plc.
