TEACHER OF PSYCHOLOGY – Full time

The College operates across two closely located campuses, next to the University of Leicester on University Road and a smaller campus at Regent Road.

In this context, we are looking to appoint a well-qualified, self-motivated and enthusiastic teacher of A Level Psychology, who will help us provide the best possible learning experience and outcomes for our students.  This post may also offer the opportunity to contribute towards the teaching of Criminology and/or Sociology, so the ability or willingness to teach these subjects will be an advantage. This post will be based with our team at the University Road Campus.

 

THE CURRICULUM AREA – SOCIAL SCIENCE

This vibrant curriculum area brings together Sociology, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Criminology.  The curriculum area consists of twenty-two teaching staff and is led by a Curriculum Area Leader, supported by two Deputy Curriculum Area Leaders and two Assistant Curriculum Area Leaders. The leadership of the curriculum area ensures the provision of high-quality outcomes and experiences for students and lead the on-going development of teaching, learning and assessment.

The area is located in large, open-plan offices in the College’s main teaching blocks, on the University Road campus, and uses classrooms nearby. There are a good range of resources including excellent online materials, interactive whiteboards, library holdings and IT facilities.

Sociology

There are 12 A Level Yr1 groups, 10 A Level Yr2 groups and 2 GCSEs groups, with approximately 720 students.  Students study the AQA specification.

Psychology

There are 24 Yr1 A Level groups, 21 Yr2 A Level groups and 4 GCSE groups, comprising 1,160 students in all. Students study the AQA specification for the A Level and the OCR specification for the GCSE.

Religious Studies

There are 2 Yr1 groups and 2 Yr2 groups, with approximately 90 students in total. Students study the Eduqas specification.

Criminology

There are 8 Yr1 groups and 8 Yr2 groups, with approximately 380 students in total. Students study the Eduqas qualification.

For our part we shall make every effort to support our new colleagues in making the best of the professional opportunities offered by these posts.

This is a permanent full-time, term-time post commencing 18th August 2025.

The salary will be at a point on the Sixth Form Colleges pay spine which ranges from £32,178 – £49,725 per annum.
