PHYSICS TECHNICIAN – TERM TIME ONLY

The College operates across two closely located campuses, next to the University of Leicester on University Road and a smaller campus at Regent Road.

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a small team in supporting practical lessons in physics and electronics courses. The ideal candidate should have a solid educational foundation, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science and Maths or higher. Whilst laboratory experience is not mandatory, the applicant must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and be comfortable under pressure. Full training will be given to the successful candidate.

Under the supervision of the Senior Physics Technician, the post holder will be responsible for providing equipment for lessons and demonstrations, maintaining apparatus and assisting students during lessons.

THE CURRICULUM AREA

Staff

The Physics, Electronics, Computer Science & IT (PECIT) team currently comprises seventeen highly experienced and dedicated teaching staff and three laboratory technicians.

Resources

We have an extremely well-resourced physics department, including two dedicated physics labs, two dedicated electronics labs, accompanied by well-equipped prep rooms.

This is a permanent, term time only post working 35 hours per week commencing as soon as possible.

The salary banding for this post will be 3 – 6 which ranges from £22,312 to £23,162 pro rata per annum. The actual starting salary is £18,318 per annum.
