Guest Speaker Week

On week commencing 9th December, WQE College was privileged to be joined by a different external guest speaker each day. They spoke to our students about important topics and delivered powerful messages.

Monday 9th December – Stand Against Violence

Stand Against Violence is an organisation that aims to prevent violence and its long-term consequences by delivering anti-violence workshops to young people all over the country.

Tuesday 10th December – Sex, Lies & Love Project

The Sex, Lies and Love Project works with young people to teach them about the dangers of pornography, online algorithms and the concerning increase in violence towards women and girls.

Wednesday 11th December – St Philips Centre

Riaz Ravat, from the St Philips Centre, is a regular visitor to the college. He is launching a new project, alongside his Colleague, Tom, in order to gauge students’ opinions on life in Leicester, and how this could be improved to provide more opportunities for young people in the city.

Thursday 12th December – Gulwali Passarlay

Another regular guest at the college, Gulwali Passarlay returned to speak to our students about his experiences as a child refugee from Afghanistan. He is now a human rights campaigner. Gulwali was engaging and insightful.
