Media students create advertising ideas for Leicester cafe

Level 3 Creative Digital Media students from WQE College will be creating advertising concepts for Leicester-based business The Verandah.

The café located in the Clarendon Park area, will be starting a ‘videogame night’ on Sundays where local residents of all ages will be offered a fun and competitive evening of videogaming.

Level 3 Creative Digital Media students were asked to come up with ideas of how to promote the event in a 30-second to one minute video that would be posted on the café’s social media platforms. Although they will not be making the official advert, students will need to research the given brief, generate creative ideas and pitch them to The Verandah in a few weeks’ time.

The project is designed to give the students experience of working in the Creative Media industry, including how to interact with a client in order to find ways of meeting their needs.

David Watts, Teacher of Creative Digital Media at WQE College said: “The students did WQE proud. They were really engaged and professional in their approach to receiving the commission, asking all the right questions in a confident and respectful manner. Both myself and The Verandah are looking forward to seeing how they creatively respond to this brief.”
