On the 22nd of February 2023, six of our fantastic students from The Debating Society travelled down to St Paul’s Girls’ School in London for a Regional Debating Competition as part of the Oxford Schools National Debate Competition. Each year, over a thousand students participate; last year had over 350 schools across the country competing with even more attending this year. The competition offers students an excellent chance to develop their skills and confidence in public speaking, thoughtful argumentation and analytical problem solving. All our students did fantastically well, and after some heated and hard-fought debates, one team placed second by one point! This has secured them a place on finals day on March 11th at the historic Oxford Union where they will compete against around 120 of the best performing teams from the UK, Ireland, and international rounds. We congratulate them all on their tremendous success and hard work and wish them the best of luck in the finals! Come on WQE!!!
