Personal Progress Mentors (PPM)
Personal Progress Mentors
Each student is allocated to a Personal Progress Mentor (PPM) who will work with them individually to support their time at college.
The role of the Personal Progress Mentor is to support, assist and guide their students by:
- Helping in those early days with settling into college life
- Offering advice on subject choices
- Coaching and helping develop study skills
- Being the first point of contact for parents/carers
- Helping with university or job applications
- Providing support at times of personal or emotional difficulty.
Extra-Curricular and Wider Learning at WQE
We are dedicated to ensuring that all WQE students develop holistically as young professionals during their time with us. Key issues affecting young people are addressed through the PPM Group sessions. A 70 minute PPM session consists of:
- Meet, greet and register students
- Group delivery of pre-agreed PSHE content
- Votes 4 Colleges
- Individual Learner Plan (ILP) reflection on ProMonitor
We also provide a comprehensive and exciting program of learning for students to engage outside of their subject and PPM group sessions to support their holistic development as young professionals. These encompass:
- Specialist external speakers and visitors
- Student/Parental engagement events
- Timetabled online learning – Choice of modules tailored to student needs and future pathways
These activities are tailored to help students to develop key skills in the following areas:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Problem solving
- Creativity
- Staying positive
- Aiming high
- Leadership
- Teamwork
