Congratulations to students on our Foundation and Transition programmes, who have been taking qualifications to support their progression to advanced level qualifications. There have been some fantastic results, with further improvements on past years.
Those re-taking an English Language GCSE have done especially well this year, with 69% gaining this qualification at the vital grade 4 or better, having previously achieved below grade 3 or below when in Year 11. This is very significantly above the national average for these qualifications and yet another increase of 7.1 percentage points on the strong results achieved in this area last year.
Almost two thirds of those taking a vocational Level 2 qualification have achieved the highest gradings too, giving them the best possible foundations to progress into the next level of study this year, representing a 14.5 percentage point increase on outcomes in similar course last year.
Our small cohort of students on entry level programmes have also done brilliantly to develop their English, Numeracy and employability skills, with 97% passing their qualifications, also up by 9.7 percentage points this year.
These results place the students involved in an ideal position to take their next steps in education and to facilitate access to higher levels of study. We are delighted that this will now open the door into advanced levels for so many who had these ambitions, and that the hard work of those students, alongside the support from parents, carers and our staff has paid off.
There will undoubtedly be a few days of celebration now, before these students take all they have learnt to the next level and will challenge themselves again in the year ahead.
