Entry Qualifications

GCSE English or English Language Grade E or 2, or Functional Skills English Level 1.

What will I study?

This course includes three components:

• Component 1: 20th Century Literature Reading and Creative Prose Writing (40%)

• Component 2: 19th and 21st Century Non-Fiction Reading and Transactional/Persuasive Writing (60%)

• Component 3: Spoken Language (a separate endorsement)

How will I study?

During the course of the year, you will engage in a variety of activities, including class discussion, group work, and working independently…plus, plenty of exam preparation and practice!

How is the course examined?

Assessment is through two external exams and one internally-assessed spoken language assessment. You have the opportunity to sit the exam in both November and the summer.
