January 2021 Vocational Exams

The Government have listened to the genuine concerns of colleges and students about their decision to continue with the January vocational examination series during the national lockdown. As a result, the Department for Education confirmed that colleges could now take the decision on whether to continue with these planned external assessments. We have reviewed the situation further this morning and decided not to proceed with the January vocational assessments.

The health, wellbeing and safety of our students and staff remains our most important priority. In the context of the continuing concerns about the scale of local infection rates in Leicester and Leicestershire, the importance of the current stay at home message and the wide range of areas from which examination candidates and staff would need to be travelling from, not proceeding with these examinations is the appropriate decision at this time.
