Teaching staff

In January 2020 I was elected as a staff governor at WQE after putting my name forward for the position of teaching governor.  I wanted to be a governor because I have a real interest in maintaining and improving the quality of learner experience at the College. I am passionate about education particularly post-16 education which is where my teaching career and experience lies.

I am a computer science teacher and assistant curriculum area lead at WQE College, and an examiner with OCR examination board.  My teaching experience spans 17 years all in the post-16 sector, starting out at a further education college before moving to a sixth form college.  Over the years I have taught and designed several curriculum programs including vocational, A level and adult education. Prior to teaching, I worked in industry as a software developer for a few companies including a global blue chip telecommunications company. My decision to change career was driven by the desire to find a role which involved working more directly with individuals while keeping my interest in computing active.

As a staff governor, I hope to bring in the teaching perspective drawn from directly working with learners and look forward to helping to shape the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the College.
