As a second-generation immigrant born and raised in Leicester, I bring both personal and professional insight to my role as a Governor at WQE College. A former student of the College, I studied A-Levels in Mathematics, Economics, and Business from 2017 to 2019. My time at WQE was formative, and it is a privilege to now contribute to its success and development from a governance perspective.
Professionally, I am a chartered accountant (ICAEW), currently working at a FTSE 100 company. I completed my accountancy qualification at a top ten audit firm, where I gained extensive experience in financial oversight and governance, particularly in the education sector. This enables me to bring valuable expertise in financial strategy and risk management to the Board.
I am deeply committed to ensuring the welfare of all students at WQE College. I believe every student should have access to the support, guidance, and opportunities they need to succeed, both academically and personally. I am particularly focused on creating pathways that ensure all students regardless of their background are equipped for a successful future, whether they pursue higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.
In addition, I am involved in my local community through SafeWithSports, a charity supporting health and fitness initiatives for ethnic minority groups. This work strengthens my dedication to inclusion and equality of opportunity – values I aim to bring to my role as Governor to further enhance the student experience at WQE.
My commitment to the College is to ensure it remains a supportive, inclusive environment where students can thrive and achieve their potential.
